Weddings in La Fortuna waterfall are very popular for small destination weddings and elopements. The Fortuna River waterfall is located in a biological reserve; with an area of 210 acres of transition premontane tropical wet forest. A part of the Arenal Volcano National Park and is located at 1700 feet over the sea level, where there are sources of our mountains and the waters of the Fortuna River. Within this sector is the Cerro de los Perdidos, Placas de Mayo and Cerro Chato, which are based on rocky foundations of great geological value, causing in turn a lush and scenic beauty.

La Fortuna Waterfall emerges from dense jungle greenery of Arenal Volcano National Park before plummeting some 200 feet (65 m) into an emerald pool.

The journey towards the Rio Fortuna waterfall is self-guided. A local non-profit association administers the waterfall. The property have a broad space for parking, which is offered free of charge. In the reception area , there are: toilets, locker rooms, showers, rental of lockers, souvenir shops, viewpoints, an Orchid Garden and the particular River Lounge Restaurant.

The viewpoint plataform of the waterfall has a balcony. From this point you can see the waterfall to a distance of 200 meters. Perfect for pictures.

The trail runs through pasture and rainforest, offering up chances to spot toucans, monkeys, sloths, and other tropical creatures. It takes about 15 minutes to hike down the stair set to the Fortuna Waterfall.

The route consists of about 530 steps down to reach the impressive Rio Fortuna waterfall, where the peace and the majesty of nature will make you enjoy its clear waters and the scenic beauty of the place.

The steps offers greater security to its passage and comfortable areas for rest and hydration through a forest with native trees of the area.

Getting married at La Fortuna waterfall

Once in front of the waterfall, you will find a spacious and comfortable vantage point. This balcony is perfect for a marriage ceremony at the Fortuna waterfall.

Some other couples prefer to perform the wedding ceremony just by the Fortuna waterfall edge.

I say enough great things about Fabián whom I hired for my surprise proposal. We had the absolute best experience working with Fabian for our wedding in Costa Rica near Arenal Volcano. And not only did he capture stunning photos of our ceremony and our guests, but he also planned and led us on an epic “wreck the dress” adventure hike to several waterfalls a couple days later — the photos are just incredible. We were vacationing in Costa Rica and fell in love with this beautiful place. We decided we wanted to get married while we were there. I found a wedding officiant and he gave me Fabián’s name as a wedding photographer. From my first contact with Fabián, he was amazing. Sending me pictures of different locations to help me select the right place, he helped me find a florist and someone to do my hair and makeup. On our wedding day, Fabián went above and beyond.
