What’s the best time for engagement photos in Costa Rica?
Usually, the morning light is the most flattering — and it’s also the best way to avoid crowds.
For example:
- La Fortuna Waterfall opens at 7:00 am — arriving early allows for beautiful, peaceful photos before most visitors arrive.
- Volcano view locations (like Arenal) are best around 9:00 – 10:00 am, when the light is soft and the volcano is often visible.
- For beach sessions, sunset (around 5:30 pm) is perfect to capture those dramatic, golden tones.
It’s important to know that in Costa Rica, sunrise is around 5:00 am and sunset around 5:30 pm. After 6:00 pm, it’s already dark, so it’s not possible to explore jungles or natural areas at that time.
When is the dry season and the green season in Costa Rica?
This can get a bit tricky — because Costa Rica has two different climate regions.
☀️ Pacific Side (Guanacaste, Puntarenas, Central Valley):
- Dry Season (“Summer”) runs from December to April, offering clear skies and golden sunlight.
- Green Season (“Rainy Season”) starts in May and lasts until November — with August, September, and October being the wettest months.
🌧 Caribbean Side (La Fortuna, RĂo Celeste, Bajos del Toro, Puerto Viejo de LimĂłn):
- Seasons are less defined here; it can rain any day of the year, but the good news is that showers are usually short-lived.
- Interestingly, unlike the Pacific, the best months for clear skies and vibrant greens on the Caribbean side are April through October — ideal for enjoying both volcano views and the lush Caribbean beaches.
How long will it take to receive the photos?
Trust me — I completely understand the excitement of wanting to share your amazing news right away!
That’s why I always deliver a few sneak peeks within 1–2 days after your proposal or engagement session, so you can share your story with family and friends immediately.
Your complete, edited online gallery will be ready within 15 business days (often sooner). Every image is carefully color-corrected and edited to highlight the natural beauty and emotion of your day.
Do I need to pay any additional fees besides the photography coverage?
In some cases, yes — depending on your chosen location:
- Entrance fees: If your selected location has an admission fee, please include my entrance ticket. Most places charge around $20 USD (and in some locations, photographers don’t need to pay).
- Travel fees: For remote destinations — such as the South Pacific (Dominical, Uvita, Osa, Nauyaca Waterfalls) or parts of Guanacaste (Flamingo, Tamarindo, Conchal, Liberia, Nosara) — I may need to add travel and, if necessary, accommodation costs.
When it comes to using your photos — you have Full Printing & Sharing Rights.
Your memories are 100% yours: you can print, share, and post them freely without any additional fees.
Do you offer drone photography?
Yes! I offer drone coverage for an extra fee. Aerial photos add a breathtaking, cinematic perspective — perfect for showcasing Costa Rica’s stunning scenery from above.
Please note that drone use depends on weather conditions and local airspace regulations, but I’ll confirm all details before your session so you know exactly what’s possible.
